Here is a quick guide to my favorite activities in Kauai. Get a full one week itinerary for the best Hawaiian Island here.
From the Air:
Helicopter Tours – See the Na Pali Coast & Waimea Canyon from a thrilling door’s off helicopter ride.
Fixed Wing Adventures – Discover the Na Pali Coast, Waimea Canyon, and Kauai’s best waterfalls from an Airvan or Cessna. I love Wings Over Kauai.
On the Sea:
Wailua River Kayaking – Kayak Hawaii’s only navigable river. Typically these tours will start at one point in the river, you will paddle to a spot to hike, swim, and have lunch, and then continue to your end point. The company will pick you and your kayak up and drive you back to your car.
Snorkel Tours – Swim with sea turtles and beautiful fish around the island.
Sunset Sails – Watch the sunset from the ocean as you enjoy dinner, champagne, and a mai tai with your loved ones.
Whale Watching – During the winter, see humpback whales as they relax and mate in Hawaii’s warm waters. If you’re lucky you might catch a breach or a spy hop!
Across the Land:
Kauai Coffee Company – (FREE!) Take a self guided tour of the coffee farm. After you tour, you will have the opportunity to try several different blends of coffee from Hawaii’s highest producing coffee company.
Hike the Na Pali Coast – Hike 22 miles along Kauai’s beautiful coast. Requires permit that must be obtained in advance.
Beach Camping – Camp at 8 different sites along Kauai’s Coast including Hanalei Beach, Anini Beach, and Salt Pond Park. Requires a permit that can only be obtained by mail.
Hike Waimea Canyon – Hike along the top of Waimea Canyon for beautiful views of this natural wonder. This can be done as an independent activity or as part of a tour that includes the Spouting Horn Blowhole.
